How Many Steps Beyond Java?
Scala is one of a group of new programming languages that merge the functional and object-oriented programming models. Scala compiles to Java Virtual Machine class files and is designed to integrate with the Java class library, which makes Scala a possible competitor to and replacement for Java. This talk compares Scala and Java by considering the design and implementation of a simple wiki in the two languages.
